Help usb wireless keyboards

mccaber

Lurker
I bought a microsoft wireless arc for my a500. When i plug or unplug the usb dongle the tablet bugs out a bit, but after a second its ok. The keyboard doesn't work though. The volume buttons work for some odd reason but nothing else. Tech support argued with me that it wasn't their problem before telling me to call back monday to friday for t2 support.

I was hoping someone here could help me before i return the keyboard. What are the requirements for keyboards to work, and are there drivers i can get? The arc keyboard doesn't come with drivers and works plug and play on pc.

Also any recommendations for keyboards? I want to use the tablet to take notes in university instead of my laptop.

The keyboard you bought is USB I take it, right? If so, that little bitty USB dongle (If I can call it that) uses Windows drivers to operate, so you would be out of luck. Targus and I believe Logitech (for two) sell compact Bluetooth keyboards which do work.

My Targus worked out of the box as well, but the Targus keyboard is bluetooth the Microsoft keyboard has a little USB dongle and a non standard interface. I looked at a couple keyboards before picking up the USB one from Targus. It does have some keys that are designed for the iPad, but it has been a really nice accessory to the A500.

Take a look at Bluetooth keyboards and mice. I have a Targus Bluetoth keyboard and and a Microscum Bluetooth mouse A5000. Both pair immediately and work together very well. I went Bluetooth because I do not want to plug anything in to the tablet. Works well with Documents To Go and other applications.

I bought a wirless keyboard from Geeks.com that works like a charm. Plug the dongle into the usb slot and away you go. I bought the keyboard origonally for my mini laptop but it works great on my tablet as well. With the latest update in the software it also has support for the touch pad, so it's a complete Key Board like a laptop would have and works the same.
