Help USB won't connect to flash????

I am trying to flash the phone and do the 2.1 install so I can root.
I've been trying for an hour and the updater will not connect with my phone.
I just mounted my sd card to backup everything, so I know the driver is installed and the cable is good.....
Any help?

try try and try again. the sprint updater is CRAP but is soooo easy to use. keep trying.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled over a dozen times the uploader and drivers.
I have rebooted many times also.
Even with everything uninstalled, my computer sees my phone when I'm not trying to upload or flash.
I know the port is good, the driver is good and the cable is good.
But I have tried for hours and hours unplugging/plugging in the USB.
It just doesn't see it.....
