Root Use a backed up rom on a new phone?

I am getting a replacement phone and the phone I currently have is rooted and I have my ROM backed up. If I root my new replacement phone, can I use that backed up ROM into the new phone?

More than likely you would be able to just make sure you have the same version of recovery
