Help Use Atrix Text Messaging App For Google Voice Texting

The Atrix text messaging app is really cool. The little bubble conversations are nice touch for texting. However, I prefer to use my google voice account for free texting, but the only way I seem to be able to do that is through the google voice app.

Is it possible to reconfigure Google Voice and the Atrix such that I can use the Atrix text messaging app for google voice texting instead of the google voice app?

I don't think so. I use GV text for my non-ATT contacts. Another thing is there's no MMS support with GV. Would be a nice addition.

Got it -
Go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Google Voice > Clear Defaults

This will reset the default messaging client.

Exit back to the Home Screen

Select Contacts App, and long press on a contact, then select "Send Text Message". You should see a popup to select your default app. Just choose Google Voice as your new default.

That's going to make the GV app his default sms app. He wants to use his GV number, will the visual layout of the native sms app. I'm not sure how to accomplish this.

Learn java and make your own app to do it. OR find a developer willing to do it for you.
