use for a hero without cell service: gift for 12 year old girl, best rom? apps? educational games?

There are likely to be many heros around that do not have cell service as people upgrade to the 3d, etc.

I have a hero that does not have cell service that a friend gave me a year ago. I want to fix it up in the next few weeks and give it to my 12 year old sister who does not have a phone. What are opinions on the best rom, apps, etc for this purpose?

I think CM7 has more bells and whistles which she might enjoy. Is there a rom built for kids? (haha) What are cool EDUCATIONAL games which work well on the hero? Also, what SIP option is the best so she could use VOIP? Is it still possible to setup a free incoming call option while on wireless?

GrooVe IP from the market lets you use your internet to make and receive call through your Google Voice on wifi or 3g, no cell service, I believe

I would run an AOSP rom, fast and light. Such as CM7 or aospMod. You will be able to overclock and the phone will be snappier without the HTC Sense overlay
