Use LG Volt as mp3 player w/o activating?

As far as that annoying hands free activation process,I read somewhere "can't remember where" that the only nonroot work around that is to put the phone in airplane mode before shutting down & once you reboot it will skip the activation process.It has worked for me so far on a kyocera hydro vibe that I purchased & I'm using as a mini tablet.

You are right! I tried this and it works. Keep it in airplane mode, and you never see the activation screen/process.

Something else that works I discovered by accident: When not in airplane mode, turn it on in an interior room where it can't get any signal, and it'll abort the activation process pretty quickly, so that's an option, too, if you have a dead zone handy (my kitchen works).

I bought this phone SOLELY to use as an MP3 player, was on sale at best buy for $40 bucks then got a samsung 64gb SD card for 30 on sale and disabled everything and now it blows my ipod touch out of the water. my battery lasts for a couple weeks of music use without a charge. Plus its the only under $100 phone i found that takes 64gb cards the rest are 32gb.
