Use my computer as a modem for Droid

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm experimenting different ROMS and when I have to wipe data and cache to install them, I have to wait for all my apps to download again OTA. My dorm has poor signal and no WIFI. Is there anyway to use the wired connection on my laptop and share it with my rooted droid? Not the other way around, but allow my droid to access the internet through my computer

Yes. I setup a ad hoc wifi on my laptop and connected to it with my driod via it's wifi. Worked for me. Updated my apps in the UK with no Verizon service using my wired laptop either net.
