Use Nexus 4 As Media Player, Not Cellphone

Hello,
I plan on getting a Nexus 4, but not using it as a cellphone. I have no need for a cellphone so I was wondering if this is possible. Will I be heckled with messages or alerts telling me to insert a SIM? I especially don't want a permanent notification in the notification pull-down thing. If this will be a problem, could I just get a "dummy" SIM from eBay and use that? Thanks in advance.
 
expensive mp3 player if you ask me ;) but i'm sure you can use it that way. Idk if it will warn you i plan on using mine as a phablet (tablet/phone) just no service till end of the year because i don't need two plans lolz. So have to wait but can't wait for phone though might sell it and buy another, since i've seen them sell for twice the value n get a free one technically, not bad just thinking about it tho i'm sure i won't want to when i get it lolz.
 
It might give you a message every time you start it up, but shouldn't after that. I've used other phones without sims and I never got repeated messages.

Lol yeah, but the iPod Touch also starts at 299.99 and with dated specs.;)

Do you mean every time I power it on from off or every time I lock the screen and unlock it? I never power off my devices so that would be great.
 
idk don't have it yet soon though its going on 2 weeks now i expect to receive it this week fingers crossed if not then next week it shall be <sigh> I'll tell you when i get it. though i imagine its everytime you turn it on it'll notify you and then u can clear that if its like the other notifications either way it should only be in the top left corner lil symbol n i guess ur right on the ipod touch part though they make noname brand ones for dirt cheap lol maybe not touch even nano
