Use Tasker with "OK Google" on Nexus 5

Tabclear

Lurker
OK guys, I have searched and searched but cannot find an answer to this question.

I want to link the "OK Google" phrase that starts a Google Now search on the Nexus 5 to Tasker, or more specifically the AutoVoice plugin for Tasker.

I can attach the swipe up from the bottom to use AutoVoice rather than Google Now , but I cannot figure out how to make the phrase "OK Google" use AutoVoice.

I read that on the Moto X you can use Tasker to watch for the "Touchless Control" App to become active, and then kill it and start AutoVoice. But the Nexus 5 doesn't have the Touchless Control App, In fact I don't know what process or App is actually listening for the "OK Google" phrase on the Nexus 5.

Can anyone shed any light on how I might make this work.

Thanks in advance

I imagine it's something to do with Google Now/Search... not 100% though - perhaps someone else may be able to help! :)

I too am fairly sure the app that listens for that is the google search, or velvet as it was renamed several versions back.

it is located in the /system/priv-app folder on kit-kat.

Thanks guys...

I guess if it is google search that listens for the phrase, that rules out killing it and starting auto voice as I would never bet able to use Google search...

OpenMic+ looks great, but it's going to kill my battery.

Looks like there's no hope for now.

The popular voice command app Utter by Ben Randall ties into Google now search and Tasker tasks, so you should be able to achieve your goal using a combination of the three.

create your Tasker task and then speak your command to Utter, it will then run the task or transfer the query to Google Now.

Utter is definitely very slick, and phenomenally capable.

While you're at it, check out his recently-released Memotion emotional analysis voice recorder app thing. It can listen to your voice and determine your emotional state. As an added bonus, If you are a user of utter! then it will receive the emotion analysis and become the first ‘Virtual Assistant’ to have the context of its user’s emotional psyche! The future is coming...
