Help use the camera LED as a light?

Where can i find an app that uses the camera led as a light..
im currently using galaxo 1.6.3.3..

i tried LED Light by plcoyl, but it dident work...

Look for Moment Flash in the market. I've been using it for a while now, works a treat. Even has a widget, which makes it even easier to use.
 
the camera leds were designed for short flashes tho', so their longevity will probably suffer a great deal from extended use
 
well, MomentFlash dev understandably warns that the flash may fail if overused. However iPhone 4G's flash is used when recording videos in the dark. So probably its flash is tougher. But yeah, I wouldn't use Galaxy's flash for more than 30-60 seconds in a row.
 
Galaxy flash is not really used by glowing pear, it just uses the first lower stage and flashes shortly if you tapp the screen. So i don't think there is a danger using glowing pear for longer periods...
 
HTC Smart got flashlight as standard option..
LED is produced to last. On cars, on LED tv, on everything, It's also cheap..
So use it freely cause you'll most likely change the phone before LED dies. :)
 
Surely, LED flash and LED indicator, like the one on your TV, are not identical things. LED flash, as I understand, may overheat - which is logical, considering how much more light it emits than an ordinary LED indicator.
 
galaxy video also uses flash in a dark room so i dont think theres a chance of it seriously overheating...also ive been using it a lot and my stupid friends seem to find it funny to tap the glowing pear thing in each other faces and for now everything works fine. ;)

One thing to bear in mind is duty cycle. LEDs are capable of being driven at a very high level for a brief period of time, but may burn out if subjected to that level on a continuous basis. A better solution would be to use the screen back light. I believe I may have seen an app for that on the Market.

In many applications, the LEDs are pulsed. This means the average power is lower than the peak, but because of the way the eye works, it appear brighter than if that average power were continuous, rather than pulsed. Also, as I mentioned in another note, applying sufficient power continuously may cause the LED to burn out, if you exceed it's ratings.

I have to say - i did not know Galaxy was using flash LED in dark conditions video shooting. Perhaps it is durable then. And if it does not have a failsafe - it should be covered by warranty. But do you want to try? )))

We could ask Drakaz to test it on a Galaxy that we sent to him, so long as he does not use it except for testing the firmware.
 
But if it got destroyed he wouldn't be able to test if the flash works in the camera-app on GAOSP! :eek:

It's probably safe to use it for a couple of minutes, and more than that shouldn't be needed during normal conditions. :)

LED on Galazy do not over heat, the heat in that section is produced by work of screen and battery and internal signal antena, like when you use GPRS, so LED i cold, giving light, if you search for LED powerd batterylight, you'll se that they guaranty you a 10 year working..
So the only problem is if you picture 10milion times, because when picturing the flash get's much more power to do flash than to just light (gloving pear can flash when you click the screen)

I'm stupid for software, but hardware is my thing.
 
I use MomentFlash on my i7500 and have had it running for many minutes at a time without issue.

It says it uses the flash in normal mode (ie: what comes on when focusing the camera), but you can enable 'super bright' mode (ie: what comes on when you take the photo as a flash) which gives you all sorts of warnings about burning things out. So I'm guessing for the 'super bright' mode it ramps the voltage up to a point thats unsustainable? FWIW, I've never got 'super bright' to work ^_^
