Help Used as a mp3?

I'm thinking of getting the Galaxy Note from a friend but I don't want to pay monthly and just have it as a mp3, can I do that?And if so can I install TextPlus and Groove IP and use it as a Wi-Fi phone only or does At&t block it from doing certain things?
 
I am amazed at how good the Note is as an mp3 player. Great frq response and excellent bass. Combined with an mp3 hunter this things literally rocks! The headset is very comfortable too. I have zero complaints with my Note so far.
 
While my phone is activated I use mine for all of my outside of the house mp3 needs, which is quite a bit, as I'm a music nut. Sound quality is much better than the Evo 4G and Evo 3D, plus the stock music player is decent. I use PowerAmp most of the time though, as it's top of the line in every way. Rock on dude!
