When you guys get the phone, is it easy to activate it?
I already had a smartphone data account and called Verizon to transfer to my new ESN. It was up and working in 10 minutes. I did this while the seller was there to make sure it had a clean ESN.

Yea I had an Omnia before, so I already had a data plan. I didn't even have to call Verizon. If you have an online "My Verizon" account, you can activate the phone from the website. (There is an "activate phone" hyperlink).

You just punch in the ESN, then dial *228 on the phone when it prompts you, and you're done. It was really simple.

I assume that means that you wanted to make sure that the phone hadn't been reported stolen or broken by Verizon?

Could you do this if you don't have a data plan? I know you wouldn't be able to use the 3G stuff, but I know I'd very rarely use 3G because there is wi-fi where I live and work.
