Root used z4 root now can't unroot

Lurker
I finally decided to root my droid 1 ver 2.2 using z4root ver 1.3 the newest one i could find. Rooted it no problem, then i tried to use the tether which then froze my phone. I rebooted tried again and nothing. Now when i bring up the z4 app it just asks temp or perm root. So after doing this again i attempted to unroot but every time after i have rooted the phone and try to bring up z4 again it freezes up, force closes, or just will not bring the app up. Help please!

If you really want to unroot then you could use rsdlite and flash the original stock sbf and let the phone run the updates. Probably an easier way but this is how I do it.

That is the second to oldest stock full .sbf file. I have all of them in my files collection below, the latest being the 2.2/FRG22D.

I also have a guide at my site to unroot without using RSD Lite as I feel that using RSD Lite is pretty finicky and while it works just fine for some people, it's about 60/40; success/fail(or at least massive knashing of teeth getting it to work).

But why not first see if you can use any root apps? Mainly try Rom Manager (free) and try to flash a custom recovery image to the phone. Then use the "fix permissions" option in rom manager and see if that helps fix any problems. If that doesn't work, you could try going further down the rabbit hole and flash a custom rom and try tethering then.

good luck
