User Reviews + first impressions

If you are actually wanting reasons to keep the phone, but are looking for solutions to your problems: The FAQ covers a few as well as a number of other threads in this forum. Like your battery issue, the 3G issue. I can even link specifics.

But if you're just going to go back to your 4G, I wish you well.

Add in the Market not working now - loads and shuts off goes back to homescreen - :(

I guess I am confused and bummed that i will be working on my 3rd Evo 3D since release - I also am not a photo fanatic and am amazed how much i miss the Evo 4Gs 8mp camera for some reason -

I guess I will give one more a shot but in all likelihood with all the Sprint phones i have owned replacements even brand new ones always seem to be worse than the original for some reason - also i never had one issue with the Evo 4G orginal release date phone until traded in -

But thanks for the kind words, most would hate on this type of posting -

I thought you can only exchange a phone once? thats what sprint told me, I would like to exchange my evo 3d because the ear piece is muffled and cuts out signal is descent, so is it that you are on your third evo 3d? do they charge you?

No, if you have a defect etc. and your within your 30days of new phone warranty you can exchange it or return it no questions asked - I once exchanged 4 Sprint HTC Touch's because they all never held a charge, units would get way to hot and the software froze up literally all the time - I know Sprint stores have issues with returns/exchanges and usually give the customer refurbished units so becareful - i am now dealing with RS since the original Evo and always get a brand new in box unit to replace my defect

The best part of exchanging multiple phones is if you document it with Sprint and than call the retentions hotline and complain and have proof of all the exchanges they will honor you big time, in the case of the above i was able to upgrade to the Centro at no cost to me with overnight shipping to my door for my troubles!

Problem is here there is no other worthy phone out and will be out for awhile, and for now I have heard to stay away from the coming Motorola Photon for the sake of it being Motorola and the software issues that go along with it - so i just may go for my 3rd 3D this weekend!

what happens if you exchange it on the 28th day lets say, you get the phone, same problem, then what? is there a penalty that you pay? It will take 2 days for the phone to get to me. Then my 30 days are up.

Wow. Sounds like you have the worst possible luck with phones. Ive never had to return a phone in my entire life. Sorry but thats just insane...

Man my Evo 3D has been pissing me off at work. My EVO would get at least some signal, whether it be roaming or not so I could at least send/receive text messages at work all night. My evo 3d will have a little X for 90% of the time. Makes me furious. New phone, not as good a signal, and the speaker can't be heard from my machine like my evo. I regret it.

my evo.. yesterday in (North Ft Worth Texas) was totally bad signal..

bad 3G connection
jumping in and out of roaming
in and out of 1x

today.. taking for ever to make a call...

my guess....there is something going on with the sprint towers.

I had data connectivity issues yesterday afternoon but no problems today.

I got mine from Amazon. I'm on my second now. The original had the crooked screen, it was overheating, and the speaker was bad. The person I spoke to with Amazon said that every the you get a replacement it's like the warranty starts all over. If you're getting a new one at the end of every 30 day cycle though, they'll probably start to wonder and just tell you to suck it up and deal with it.

She also told me that Amazon doesn't deal with the returned models. They just send them to Sprint and they sell them refurbished.

I got my original 3d on the 21 of June..had issues with it locking up...called sprint they sent me a brand new one. The new one seems to have a different screen then the first one I had. The new one dosent seem to have a tiny bit of bluish tint to it as the first one does ..anyone else notice that. The new one seems to have a more natural look on all the colors

Working out of our downtown office today and am posting from my phone... 4G is so freakin fast! I get it sometimes at home and my regular office and even with one bar it works pretty darned fast but wow... this is amazing! First time I've used my 3D here.

How fast?

Curious about speeds in other areas with sprint 4G. I'll get from 4-9 up average about 6.

Lol... I know.. Pictures or it didn't happen ;) Seriously I don't know the actual speed, I don't use Speedtest or anything like that. Just based it on how long it takes to do something. On the web I could tap on something, like a thread on this forum and be there instantly. If I accidentally tapped the wrong link it would go there before I could hit the back button.

Hey guys, if anyone has the Evo 3D, how is the stability? I recently got a G2x and have had to consistently pull the battery 2 to 5 times a day because it'll freeze or lock up. Majorly frustrating coming from the awesome Nexus One.

For me it has been very stable. Have had it since 6/23. I have never had a random re-boot, and once had to do a battery pull. That's it.

Owner since day 1. (Actually, since day -2, if you want to count that way.:D)

Never had to do a battery pull, never had a random reboot.

I have had some apps lock up or crash, but I'm pretty sure that's the fault of the app developers, not the phone. (It's limited to a few specific apps, and always the same ones.)

This is good info. Thanks, guys. HTC seems to really do the best work with hardware.

New question: What do you think of the 3D? Dealing with technology for so long, I should be a jaded jerk by now, but I'm still a total sucker for gimmicks. I'm going to try and play with one tonight, but what are your impressions with the 3D after having it for a while?

I think the 3D is really cool and works well. Something that I always wished I had was a way to capture the depth of scenery since I do a lot of hiking in the mountains. That said, it's not something I use every day. I don't watch many movies (although I struggled through most of the Green Hornet - the 3d is cool, but the movie itself trash), so it's kind of limited use for me; I mostly use it for taking pictures. 3D games might be neat but I don't play games a whole lot on the phone either.

All in all I'm impressed by the 3D, but it was never the deciding factor. The phone is just a very solid upgrade to one of the best phones of last year.

So I received my new Evo 3D yesterday after a weird 4 weeks of waiting for it to arrive, long story. That being said I have issues with this one as well. First off the on/off button is really hard to use. It takes a couple of presses to get the phone to turn off or on, that alone will drive me crazy. Has any one else reported that as an issue? Also my signal strength is poor again compared to all my other Sprint phones. Calls break up or get dropped in the locations that use it the most. I wonder if I should try a third ( I have an additional 30 days on this phone) I am beginning to think the 3D is just a tad weaker in my crappy locations and no matter how many I try it just wont matter. I dread the thought of going back to my Hero until another phone that I want comes out.
