Using 3G while on a phone call?? Can the Droid??

Hahahahaha. This made me laugh pretty hard.

So you are trying to tell me you DON'T collect postcards in areas where you have 3g?:confused::confused:

:D

I'd have more postcards :)

Now really, why collect postcards on ATT's archaic network called edge?

Oh yeah, marketing. Nobody wants edge, really nobody does.

However you cannot start nav while already on the phone. In my case I was talking to someone on the phone, got an address, tried to plug it in but couldn't confirm directions while I had the party on the phone.

I could see where I'm on a conference call and would like to do a quick data query on something and am out of luck with 3G.

As others have stated, its a network issue, GSM is built around carrying data and voice simultaneously; CDMA is not.

The map is cached when you start the route. So, if you get a call while using Nav you won't miss any turns because of a lack of map data.

You CAN speak and Nav at the same time.

It won't update your route though if you go off course, which can be annoying if you're visiting a city with lots one-way streets. I had this happen to me over the weekend.

of course with the iPhone you can't do this at all (well, not natively at least)
