Using 64GB USB memory stick

Bought one of these:-

Micro-B Usb Otg On The Go Cable For Samsung Galaxy S2

Connected to my S2 and then connected a card reader to the cable holding a 4GB or 16GB Sandisk Ultra SD cards. ES FileEXplorer (Astro File Manager shows similar) reads the SD cards.

Removed card reader and connected a 64GB SpaceloopXL USB memory stick; NTFS formatted. This has some 22GB of data on it. Phone shows message:-

"SD Card empty, unmounted or not present"

Also tried a DataTraveller 8GB USB memory tick; FAT32 formatted. Read by phone.

Also tried a Compact Flash card reader with a 256MB FAT formatted card; phone does not read.

Now it seems that the phone needs FAT32 to read;the SD cards I tried all came from digital cameras and 8GB USB stick fairly old; that is why FAT32. But means I have a method of backing SD camera cards away from base; phone has 64GB micro SD card installed.

I want to keep the 64GB as NTFS (FAT32 will not format 64GB anyway??) so will have to put up with not using that on phone?
