Using device without a carrier

I have a "leftover" phone after upgrading. It's an LG Enlighten. I'd like to use the phone as a stand-alone device, making use of wi-fi to connect to the internet. I don't want or need a phone number.

But after a factory reset to the phone, I can't get past the screen that says I need to call Verizon to activate the phone.

What are my options?

All phones have a bypass code. Try touching the top left, the top right, then bottom right, then bottom left...or some combo of those touches. Or I've seen Volume Up, then Volume Down, then Back, then Menu. Good luck!

Thanks ouch! I googled "lg enlighten bypass code" and came up with several. The one that worked for me was volume up, down, back, search, menu.
