Using Google Voice to make free calls?

I use Google Voice on my computer occasionally to make free calls. Is there a way to do this on Android so it goes through Google and does not use my regular talk time allocation with VZW?

Thanks.

You can use an app like grooveip along with your Google voice number to make free calls via a wifi connection.

Oddly enough, the current apple os version of Hangouts lets you make calls using your Google Voice number over wifi or cell (NOT mobile data) signal. Free calls in the USA and Canada and it won't use mobile minutes.

I thought for sure it was coming to the latest Hangouts/SMS integration on Android also.

I'm sure we'll see it by the next Android OS release - I'm pretty sure that the discontinuation of XMPP-based VoIP services is in preparation for such a move.
