Using Nandroid?

I am thinking of trying a custom rom on my Desire (unlocked by Orange) but am nervous about no Orange UK RUU being available for a reversal.

If I do a factory reset first, then a nandroid backup, would restoring that backup after flashing other roms have the same or similar effect as reflashing the original orange uk rom?

Yes??? If you do a nandroid backup without doing a factory reset, you can restore your phone to exactly how it was before you flashed the new rom.

No. Because the backup will be rooted and you would still have custom recovery .

Anyway it no longer matters. HTC will honour warranty on the unbranded 2.3.3 RUU available on HTCdev.com so noone ever has to worry about Orange RUUs again
