Using phone abroad

I know this has been asked before, I just want a sure fire way of using my phone for calls/texts but turn OFF data altogether.

TIA

You can get apps on the market that turn it off, but some apps seem to be able to override. I suppose a good surefire way of doing it could be to delete or disable the APN settings for data?

Menu button --> Settings --> Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names --> Fiddle

However you might want to wait for someone else to confirm that would work before you muck around.

+1 I would say a combination of this (APNDroid will do the fiddling for you) and turning off data roaming in Settings-->Wireless & Networks-->Mobile Networks should sort you out... (Thats what I'd do anyway.)

If you use JuiceDefender, that has a widget that can toggle the APN on or off - I imagine this would achieve the same thing.
