Help Using phone with other carriers

Lurker
Can I use this phone with other GSM carriers like T-mobile? If not, then will rooting the phone allow me to use it with other carriers?

This is a CDMA/LTE phone and doesn't support GSM. I believe only Verizon has LTE at this point too, so I don't think this phone would be useful with other carriers. (And rooting would make no difference. It's a hardware issue.)

Why does it have a SIM card slot if its a CDMA phone? Just curious!

It runs off of CDMA AND LTE (GSM). The sims card is for GSM on their network. You might have some luck, but if you get it unlocked and brick it, we are not responsible.

Lets not call LTE, GSM; It confuses people. LTE is not really GSM. LTE is designed as a data network.

But to answer the OP, no this phone cannot readily be used on another network. The other network would need to use the same frequencies that Verizon uses, which means you would have to be outside the US and if that is the case then there are way better offerings for the same price.
