Using Skype possible?

Can one use Skype on a mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy S6102 Duos) in a senseful way? Here on this forum I could find only a few threads about Skype.

Or are there other apps to be reommended, e.g. "WhatsApp" or "Line" or something like that you could phone without charge with?

That's a Galaxy Y Duos isn't it? Should be able to use Skype on that phone no problem. Don't quite know what you mean "in a senseful way".

Any messaging and VOIP apps are going to use data. The best way to avoid carrier 3G data charges is to use WiFi when you can.

Thanks nieltab,

Good to know.

Yes, it is.

Sorry about that, I meant, being able to make phone calls with out disconnections, hesitations, bad quality of speech, etc. There are so little threads about Skype and phone I found, so I wondered if that was useful at all, but it seems to work well.

OK, Wifi is the same as WLAN, Hotspot, Internet access, I assume. What does "carrier" mean?

You can try Google Hangouts as well. Not sure if you can place calls with it, but you can video chat.
Thanks, I will have a look at it.

By the way, is "Device(s): Samsung Galaxy S6102 Duos" on the left side here seeable for everyone or should I write it in the signature also?

carrier is the company that You use to get service through. examples are Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T

yes I can see your "Device(s): Samsung Galaxy S6102 Duos" on the left side.

No need to do it in signature unless you really want to.
