Help Using the G2X internationally

I read somewhere that the G2X will not work overseas as do other T-Mobile phones. Does anyone know if that is correct?

No, that is not correct. The phone has UMTS support for bands I and IV. Band I is used in Europe and Asia. It's just missing the AT&T bands used in the U.S.

First you will need to contact Tmo for the unlock code. Depends on which state you are in, it could be 2 weeks, it could be 1 month before they can send you the code.

Then you can use your phone with any GSM carrier for voice. For data, I know 2G / EDGE would be no problem. For 3G in other countries, refer to the response above =)

850/900/1800/1900 GSM are your only intn'l bands. EDGE if you can get it. 3g is limited to 1700/2100

Just to be clear about my earlier response, "Band I" is 2100 MHz, which is supported by the G2x and is used all over Europe and Asia. With a local SIM (or data roaming, if you have DEEP pockets!), you will get 3g abroad.

If your on contract or not an want to unlock your phone to use on other networks dont wait for t mobile, just visit "unlockthatphone.com" they sent me my unlock code in 12 hours for cost of $15
