Help Using your Desire HD through PC

I am sure I have read this somewhere before but can no longer find it.

Is it possible to connect your DHD to you PC and use it through your PC for example send text messages by writing and viewing them on your PC screen and using the PC's keyboard or onscreen keyboard on your PC? If so which ROM do you need for this or what app do you need?
