Root v v 4

It's my understanding that only the phones that came out in what was it Nov I think have voLTE. Unless there is an update that I don't know about to make our older Connects voLTE, we don't have this option. After my last post I fell asleep and slept for nearly 22 hours so I haven't done anymore searching on this. Hopefully I can find some answers today.

I got my phone about 8 months ago (I think :D) I cant remember lol!! but I know its been awhile. I know I can surf the web and be on a call at the same time but I dont know how to tell if its on LTE or not.
 
Calling and texting is on cdma. Data 4g is on lte. What if they don't push vv4 update. Maybe they were testing VOLTE. How many Connects could they sell in the past month. Probably not many.
 
So then everyone that has a Connect should be able to surf the web and be on a call at the same time no matter what but it wont be as good as voLTE right? Im just trying to clear up that an update is not needed to surf and call at the same time and to figure out what the new vv4 update does.
 
Yes, if you're in a call then you just have to press your home button to go online for those who may not know this. I have figured out for sure the v v 4 update is only an update for voLTE phones. If you didn't just buy your phone in the last 1.5 months then you don't have voLTE
 
alright alright, i JUST got my Connect back after getting a bug on it, well i got a new one, since they couldnt fix the old one (had to remove root and play dumb, "what. is. ROOt..??" haha) anyways, idk whether or not its refurbished, BUT this one is on MS840VV4....

Would rooting it cause any problems? Can i even root this one? and i was reading the other thread where someone else got a refurbished phone, and well if rooting doesnt work, would using the virtual machine be the only way to get it to the regular ZVA ? thanks so much in advance guys, you guys provide a lot of help, more than i receive from Metro for sure... haha
 
I would check it out first to see what the difference between the two. Do they let you uninstall the crapware? What the battery life like? Vv4 could be better than ZVA.

Hey, the reason I started this thread was kinda to figure out the same thing. My friend isn't able to root his phone & after he tried he is having other problems too. I know he mentioned not even having the option of a three way or conference call. I don't remember what else, I have a lot of projects going on & not a lot of energy. That's okay though, keeps me busy

Haha yeah i wasnt able to root my phone either. I tried doing so with ChiWen's One click root and K0nane's as well, both were giving me problems though, something about not being able to make a link file and then not being able to write anything on the phone (installed and reinstalled over and over again the LG Drivers, still no luck). So i ended up using the Virtual Machine factory reset method and with that i was brought back down to ZV9. Weird thing is that i tried rooting at this point once again, but i was still having the same problems as when i was in VV4. So finally i decided to see if I could update it through the original Lg Mobile Support Tool, and well, it worked =) Now on ZVA, and tried rooting it, and what do you know, it rooted :D

Now, patiently waiting for ICS or JB >_>.....patiently.... haha
 
Okay, I will be sure and mention this in case he doesn't see it. So, you no longer have voice over LTE capabilities?

I am now on the stock ROM ZVA with root. Is there any way i can test out whether or not i have voice over LTE capabilities?? i will be happy to test it out =)

I don't know as I'm not familiar with voLTE, I wouldn't think so though with ZVA. Can you tell a difference in the way your phone calls sound??
 
i replied to ya on the thread you created bro ;) but to answer that question real quick, i dont see why you shouldnt be able to install a ZVA custom ROM ? In the installs, all data and system files and what not get deleted, so its done completely fresh! Clean restart. But please, PLEASE someone correct me if im wrong on this. I dont want to be giving wrong information out... haha if i do. sorry in advance... i feel horrible.... youve been warned... haha
