Tried to do this and even with phone not bricked the kdz update tool still doesn't recognize the phone. Im going to try uninstalling/reinstalling mxml and see if that helps. We need to find a way to get this working because it's the easiest way to unbrick when functioning properly.

Here's a link to the newest version of the MetroPCS L9. Haven't tried to update manually but you should be able to flash this via upgrade tool. Just make sure you install all drivers by selecting each connection choice under settings/pc options prior to entering s/w upgrade mode. You can get into upgrade mode by powering down then once off continually press volume+ while connecting the usb cord.

This isn't an update unless you're still on 10b. There's a newer version, 10e out now. I just like to try and keep and provide all software versions for any potential future reasons.
