Help V6 update fails. What next?

I've been combing these forums for an hour looking for an answer to this and haven't found one that works. I'm on mobile so forgive me if this is a repost, I'm just tired of looking.

My phone was running a vanilla root so I could use link2sd. Tried the v6 update a few times but it always failed. I recently decided to try it again and it factory reset the phone. Since then, I've been looking for a solution too get the update to work. I've tried clearing the google services framework data and force stop but the update still fails. Anyone else experience this and have a solution?

I haven't experienced this problem. Curious, have you updated your recovery to gherkaul's CWMT?

If you're having problems, the only way to get V6 is to use the unbrick method. Note that it only works with Windows PC's. This includes Intel based Macs that have a recent version of Windows installed.

I had same issue and was tired of the constant "Update" notification. So I use the "Unbrick" link daffyduckNJ posted above ^. Instead of putting the V5 image on and then updating it I went straight to the V6 image. Make sure you read thru the entire post before trying it. I know it is long, but there is important information further down that supersedes previous information.
Good luck

Thanks for the input Murf1. I'll try your method when I get access to a computer. Since my phone factory reset, I lost root so I'll have to find a root guide for v5 and complete that first.

And to answer the above question, I didn't have CWM our any rooms installed. Just plain root so I could use link2sd.

If all that happened was a factory reset then you still have root but Superuser app was deleted with the reset. Try downloading and installing it from play store. I would suggest SuperSU app.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you have to be rooted to do the "Unbrick" method.

Link2sd changes debuggerd in system/bin. The ota checks the sha1 and doesn't like the change. I tried uninstalling link2sd for the ota but no luck. Unless you took a copy before installing link2sd your only recourse is to do an unbrick to get back to stock. It's not that painful and good to know how to do.
