Root Velocity 4 problems on my Ally

dcrow555d

Newbie
I installed the Velocity 4 ROM according to the instructions about a week ago and have been having problems. It has been great at improving battery life, freeing up more space and things like that, but it also freezes all the time, random reboots, kernal panics and reboots a ton, gps hardly works, and a lot of the stock apps don't work right like Google Talk, Lattitude, etc. I am not using A2SD because I have a class 4 SD Card and didn't want to risk any issues.

I followed the instructions exactly as they were, but I don't know what to do now. Should I reflash it back to the stock ROM? Should I get a class 6 SD Card and reflash Velocity 4 with A2SD? If i did flash back to stock, what is the best way for that? I've seen several threads on it, but which one is the best? I used ROM Manager for all the flashing and now I read a lot that it's a bad app, could that be the issue? It's gotten to the point where sometimes my phone is just unusable. Are there better custom ROMS than Velocity?

Same things are happening to me. No A2SD. I'm an experience Ally and Velocity user.

Particularly, programs force closing and a lot of kernel panics/reboots.

I'm beginning to think there's a limit that the Ally can be pushed to that we're surpassing as users with Velocity.

You both could try reflashing Velocity. I am running V.04 right now without A2SD and never have any problems. You could have bad downloads or just a bad flash. As for pushing the Ally too far, every version of Velocity gets better and improves the Ally. If it weren't a completely stable ROM, then Trident wouldn't release it. I would try to reflash first, and if that doesn't work, redownload the ROM and reflash.

running v.04 with no problems. I've gotten kernal panics but that was because i tried to overclock it to 800+. i sit at 748 with no problems now. as far as flashing it on. i use Amon Ra to flash everything i do. rom manager blows IMO

Not quite sure where to post my problem so please forgive me if in the wrong place. I was running velocity 1.0 on my ally and it was running great. I decided to try version 4 and installed through custom RA recovery after clearing all user data, cache, dalvik cache, etc .. and it loaded and booted fine but no touch screen response at all. Ok read up a bunch .. tried re downloading reinstall same problem. Tried velocity 3 .. same... tried going back to 1 .. same .. tried restoring my nandroid back up of 1 .. same! So I decided might be a problem with my sd card .. wiped it and repartitioned it .. reloaded files and tried again ...SAME PROBLEM! I'm very upset and frustrated now and wonder if anyone has any suggestions? thanks in advance! :(

If you were running 1.0, then that means you were on Froyo 2.2
.4 and older were made for Eclair 2.1
I'm surprised you didn't get a continuous boot loop.
