Root Verified ROOT for V7 ICS

Thank you to whoever made this possible. I take no credit for this method, or even finding it. I saw it in the "post here when you receive the OTA" thread and thought it needed to have it's own thread here in all things root.

I could not get any of the methods for rooting V7 to work except this one. And this one is easy being that it's a one click method.

I'm assuming it's like any other time you need to have your phone in internet/modem mode with usb debugging enabled. It's pretty straight forward.

Here's the download

Here's the (kind of) instructions page. I say kind of because they don't really tell you much.

How to Root LG Lucid 4G Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich - LG Cell Phones Blog

Hope this helps someone because it sure did help me. Thanks zlebors for sharing this find.

Does this install custom recovery as well?

This does not install CWM recovery. Note to everyone here. Installing CWM recovery will brick your phone while having v7 ICS because our bootloader is locked! We must be patient and wait for a work around.

Right now we just have root.

Probably what will end up happening is someone will have to repackage the update as if it were a custom rom. Then roll back to V6 and then flash it via CWM.

Since we got a new radio, it was probably worth it to take the v7 update at the expense of the extra trouble.

I ran this method and it does work. Just run the bat file after extracting the downloaded file. Use option 1 for normal method, and just follow the rest of the instructions. It's very easy and fast.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know why this comes with SuperSU instead of the "normal" Superuser app? Anyone familiar with this one and want to give pros/cons?

SuperSU, to my knowledge, is for JB. Ive seen it plenty on the Nexus 7. It should function the same way with minor ui differences.

supersu is just an alternive to superuser. A little bit different look but basically does the same thing.
major difference is the ui and supersu can work with either su binary. Both do the same thing ;)
