First let me apologize. Wife has a stock Verizon HTC Incredible and has been getting the nag screen to upgrade to 2.3. Told her to ignore it for awhile but it is driving her crazy. Appears the upgrade is stable now so I need your help on the step-by-step instructions on how best do the upgrade without losing anything, without rooting, without having to buy 400 apps.

I believe factory reset then upgrade is best, but if my wife loses something on her phone...I will be single again and the kids will be sad on Christmas. :(

So...help? Easy instructions exist I can give to my wife to follow? I'm traveling this week so I'm of no use. Has to be simple and error free.

Thanks a ton folks! Really appreciate it.

Just go for the install - it should be fine - If you do have to factory reset its not even that big of a deal. You can get all your apps back paid and unpaid by logging in here....it has everything. Your paid apps will redownload once you log in with gmail and go to the market.

This is the link to find all of your apps after a factory reset, paid and unpaid.

https://market.android.com/mylibrary

Just export your contacts in the "people" app to the SD card (couldnt be easier) and then reimport them into the phone after the reset.

You really shouldnt even have to do a factory reset though....
