Help Verizon 3G Data Already Used Up? Data leak?

I barely use the 3g Verizon data plan since I'm always by Wifi but I do see it on once in a while when I wake up my Xoom. I've literally used 3g outside about 3 times for a total of 20 minutes and I just got a notification from Verizon that I've used half my 1GIG. WTF? Anyone else seeing this issue?

Did you tell it not to use your 3G data? Unfortunately enabling the WiFi doesn't turn off 3G, you have to tell it not to do it.

true enabling wifi does not disable 3G but wil be a priority over 3G.

depending on what you have installed, those apps/background systems poll at anytime,, and if you are traveling from a wifi spot to another your deivce will look for 3G if its setup and if a program is requesting a data call..

ive used less than a gb of data since launch day. i have looked at the data usage chart on the vzw page and it shows the times and dates when 3G was used. its was pennies on the dollar :D.. what i mean is the programs and backkground services on the xoom i use were hitting the 3G network when i was between wifi's... id leave the job wifi and travel home and thats when i would get on the network. its all verified with the times also as those times reflect when im on the interstate..

since you have such a low data plan, you should lock your device down when you leave wifi.. put it into airplane mode...

also when using wifi, turn off 3g service. it's under settings - wireless & networks - mobile networks and check off "data enabled". that completely turns off any 3g service.
