[Verizon] About had it with Bluetooth

I know the Bluetooth on Android has some issues but I'm not really certain on what all of them may be. Bluetooth is so bad that I'm about to throw my phone out the window.

Half of the time, it will show it as being connected, but won't play through the car's audio. In that case, I have to unpair and pair back up.

It has some bug that creates around a 1 second "pause" in the streaming. It's like it clips out for just a split second. It happens very randomly.

Another bug is the Bluetooth will stay on and drain my battery extremely fast.

But the most irritating issue for me is how bad the phone lags when Bluetooth is connected to the car. It is almost unusable and sometimes even becomes unresponsive until I either pull the battery or turn the car off.

If anybody has any advise on how to fix these issues, I'd really appreciate it. I'm currently running the latest AOKP rom (Jelly Bean 4.2.2).
 
While this is not of help and trust me I feel your pain; bluetooth has been a bane for Android (and a real pain for the users) since Eclair/2.0 (at least).

When the Motorola Droid first came out that was the biggest compaint is that the bluetooth worked better on everyone's dumb phones than on the Droid. When Froyo was released it got a whole lot better, but with Gingerbread, it was again broken. I didn't stay on ICS long enough, but I _think_ it works OK with Jelly Bean/4.1.x, but again with Jelly Bean 4.2.x it be broke again.

Just a history lesson I guess, sorry that is not really any help. FWIW, I'm still on a 4.1.2 ROM and refuse to go higher, partially because of this problem you have reported.
 
There have been several BT issues reported with the VZW aberration, I mean, version of the Galaxy Nexus. I think it is due to their jacking with the radio software.

Try going back to the 4.0.4 radios to see if that fixes it.
 
The Bluetooth issues definitely got worse with 4.2 for a lot of people. I've experienced what you have, though not nearly that often. I also use a Jabra Cruiser through the radio on my phone, since I don't have the BT Module in my car stereo, so perhaps it plays nicer with things like that versus what you have.

I've had my share of it showing connected without audio, which does get annoying. And the times where you go to toggle BT off, and it doesn't actually turn off. Both times, I usually end up rebooting the phone, which works 95% of the time, the other times, I just unpair and repair it. I've gotten it down to about a 40 second process. But I don't think I've hit it as often as you have.

The only good news I have, is that I believe the JBS notes said something about there being hope with updates coming down the pipes. I really don't have a lot more on that, myself. But hopefully it's something that helps out more soon.

I do know that Sourcery also had a BT fix to revert the BT back to the 4.1 versions which has helped some people. Might be an option out there for that somewhere for you to try.
 
Thanks for chiming in. I hope this is fixed in Android soon. Its a big enough problem for me to consider jumping to another operating system that isn't named after a fruit. My phone froze up tonight as I was listening to Google Music All Access through my Hyundai Elantras audio system. Very frustrating.
 
I'd flash the 4.0.4 radios and see what happens. That fixed my problems with bluetooth cutting out on me.
 
Yeah I'm running the newest JBSourcery rom. Of course make a backup before doing anything just in case.
