[Verizon] any ROMs with good signal?

So after Iv'e gotten the 4.0.4 update. ive noticed a better signal on the Stock ROM. But my signal on AOKP has remained the same as it was before the update. Ive read the forum post about the explaination on why the the signal sucks on the VZW Gnex and that it is partly due baseband and partly due to the OS as well.

On AOKP my ASU is around 1 to 2 and thats no bueno and on stock its around 33 to 40 :( Im wondering if anyone has seen a ROM with better signal or should i say, read's a better signal.
 
That's interesting.
I have a coworker that was on AOKP but had to get a new device due to a defective charge port. He installed Sourcery but said he couldn't get a good signal, so he went back to AOKP and his signal is fine.

No ROM will help your signal out. I'm afraid if you are disappionted with your signal, then you will continue to be so no matter what ROM you put on your phone. There are some minor improvements in signal reporting and 3G/4G switching with new radios that have been released and any future iterations, but you won't see any signal strength increase. That is totally due to the hardware (antenna) design.
 
Interesting.

My son is stock 4.0.4 and has about -96 dbm signal in our dining room. In the exact same spot, I have -75 dbm.

I'm on AOKP B38, baseband I515.09 V EK05/I515.EK02 :)
 
The kernel DOES affect signal kalaster. Don't ask me why because I have no clue why :p well I do have a clue, but anyways....

Try a different kernel with the same ROM. I bet you'll have a different signal experience, albeit minor
 
I thought signal had to do with the radio img?

A kernel can effect the signal?

Yes your radio is responsible for the signal. Kernel plays a small role....I believe.

Really? I was under the impression it was entirely a function of:

- RIL
- radio firmware

Do you have a link that mentions this from a kernel dev?

Well that's new! Haha, but I don't want to give up lean kernal :( but I guess I'll look at others. But I don't think its ALL hardware, its also the software and how it reads the signal. I'm almost sure of it. Unless the 10 page post was a load of crap to get us to stop hateing the gnex.

Yeah.

No. But either ezeekel or another kernel dev mentioned it in the 1 million page :p franco kernel thread on xda. Can't remember who it was, but it was to that effect. The voltages iirc. I will look for it and link you if I find it :)
