I heard last night that talks are in the works for Verizon to buy out Sprint. Anyone heard anything about this or know any truths?

I hope not.
dear god....we'd all be forced into tiered data and twice the fees + bloatware....ahhhhhh what a nightmare!

Verizon Not Interested in Buying Sprint - PCWorld in buying sprint
I will be a very unhappy person if Verizon where to buy out sprint. I have got-in so use to my unlimited everything for a set price.
Who knows, but I don't want VZW to buy Sprint. Sprint will be better positioned once it gets all the iDen subscribers moved to CMDA and acquires the right regional players to supplement it's coverage.
I would expect Sprint to try to sell some of it's spectrum to stay afloat before being wholly acquired.
I don't think the AT&T-TMo marriage will be so special. AT&T really had very few options when it comes to upgrading it's network quickly. Behind in LTE and not such a great HSPA+ transition so it had to do something. VZW was pulling away as the top carrier. And it's only going to get worse for AT&T because iP5 or whatever it's called with LTE is going to come to VZW first or simultaneously. That's going to hurt AT&T. iP4 didn't because it's too close to a 4G iP release for people to switch and take the 2-yr contract hit for many.
I believe Sprint staying the path of being a value-provider is going to be a long-term win. The costs of data are just beginning to show so the "unlimited" nature of Sprint will begin to pay off. Sprint does need a few new phones to keep pace though. And yes, Sprint will eventually add LTE, but Wimax will live on in some capacity.
Go Sprint.
