Root [Verizon] Can i Recover from someone else's backup

so my Verizon S3 is soft bricked and I forgot to back it up. Also, my Charging port is messed up so i can't really use Odin. Me and my Brother have the same kind of phone (Verizon S3) and I was wondering if I could use his backup and use it to recover on my phone?

There's no harm in this.

I've done this (kind of) on my evo 3d. Used a nandroid from my bricked 3d on the refurbished.

Restored with no problem after root.

I have another question.
So i used my brothers phone and he has TWRP when i have Cyanogenmod.
Do you know how i can use the TWRP backupfile and install it using Cyanogenmod?

Um are you referring to cwm (clockworkmod?)

Reason I ask, cyanogenmod is a rom, not a recovery.

I've never used actual cwm, only twrp and philz (custom and advanced version of cwm). From what I've heard, a twrp backup back be restored from philz.

If cwm detects the backup you can give it a go, but I'm thinking cwm will be unable to restore it.

Otherwise you can find a twrp zip and flash it with cwm to revert to twrp.
