verizon changing upgrade policy

Well that sucks. I really dont see how this helps verizon at all tho. lol

What dont you get? They are getting rid of the annual upgrades on 2 year contract for primary lines and instead now you have to wait until 20 months like on the other lines. You know how primary lines on plans 49.99 and higher get annual upgrades? Or do you still not get it?
 
It will now be $50 more expensive to upgrade early (1 yr contract price vs. 2 yr early upgrade).

If a person is upgrading that often, that's not going to kill them (in my opinion).
 
people with experience with 1 year contracts. Do they allow you to upgrade again at 10 months or pretty strict on the full year?

what do you mean 50 more? It used to be 70 more for the phone on a 1 year instead of a 2 year. Or did you just make the 50 up or will it be 50 more on top of the $70?

If you were the primary line on a qualifying plan you were allowed to upgrade at 12 months of the 2 yr. contract for a $20 fee. The price difference on equipment in 1 yr. vs. 2 yr. is $70. Hence it will be $50 more expensive to upgrade on a 1 yr. contract vs. a 2 yr.

no thats not right at all. The 20 was charged on lines other than the primary line if you upgraded early(trust me ive done it enough times) it will still be 70 more to upgrade for a 1 year contract not 50 like you say.

I'm not sure how they processed the upgrades, but early upgrades on a 2 yr. contract are assessed a $20 Annual Upgrade Fee. So you could upgrade to a new device after 12 months and pay 2 year contract price +$20.

If you were to sign a 1 yr. contract you can upgrade every 10 months. There's just a $70 price difference in contract pricing on the equipment.

So once this change goes into effect, the only way you will be able to upgrade on a yearly basis is to pay the 1 yr. contract price, which is $50 more than the 2 yr. price + $20 AUF.
 
Does annual stop on 16th or after the next upgrade? My next annual upgrade is in like April, if I lose that one I am not going to be too pleased. It says NE2 stops after next upgrade, but no real clarification on annual.

Early upgrade changes on your next renewal after January 16th. So if you sign a new 2 year contract January 15th., you can still upgrade after 12 months. After the 16th it goes up to 20 months for early upgrade.

Nothing changes for 1 year contracts. You still get to upgrade every 10 months.
 
I just saw this on Droid Life. I'm not sure I fully understand this though. I have a NE2 upgrade that I've been sitting on since September. If I were to use that on a new LTE phone in a few months is it still valid or is it voided after January 16th? Also, isn't there another fee if you only sign up for a 1 yr contract VS a 2 yr contract? Lastly, if I did use my NE2 and bought a phone on a 1 yr contract, after 10 months how much would it cost to upgrade? I knew VZW had something like this in the works when they dropped your NE2 upgrade from $100 to $50

Okay, I think I understand, correct me if I'm wrong. If the primary line signed their contract anytime before January 16th they are still eligible for an early upgrade even if that date is after January 16th, but anyone signing a new contract after January 16th will not be eligible for an early upgrade or NE2 on their next upgrade, right?

What about if the primary line signed their contract before January 16th, but is waiting the full 20 months to get the NE2 will they still be eligible for the NE2 if the date is after January 16th?

Correct. There are still early upgrades, just not at 12 months of a 2 yr. contract. Any 2 yr. contracts signed after Jan. 16th will have a 20 month upgrade.

You will have 6 months from the date you become eligible for the NE2 to use it.

Let me see if I can sort this out for you.

1. Your NE2 isn't voided on the 16th. I believe you just have 6 months to use it from the date you became eligible. If I understand it correctly, that would mean you would have until February to use it or lose it.

2. There is no "fee" for signing a 1 year vs. a 2 year. It's just more expensive for the device (avg. $70).

3. If you sign a 1 year contract, you can upgrade in 10 months. You can choose to upgrade at 1 or 2 year pricing. It's up to you. The pricing is available when you shop on the website. Just pick which contract term you want to see the pricing. There is no cost to upgrade at the normal cycle aside from purchasing the device.

^^^This is the biggest load of horse S**T! In the past 2 months almost everyone I know has jumped ship to Sprint. As much as I love Verizon I think I may be next if this is true. I've held onto this NE2 specifically for when a LTE device I really want comes out. Now, according to them, I have to use it within 6 months or I can't use it at all??? How can they do that? When I have some free time I'm going to call these bastards and see what the deal is

Like I said, reading it the way it's worded you have 6 month from when you're eligible, which for you would be February (if you were eligible in September). But they may actually mean it to be 6 month from Jan. 16th for those that are already eligible. I'm not sure on that...
