Verizon backup assistant plus does not work on this rom . . . just hangs & says "unfortunately settings has stopped working". Just me, or is this function propriatary to Verizon`s software on the original rom - ?

All the Verizon stuff has been removed. That's why it's called CleanRom. Scott (the developer) doesn't use it and it's his rom. He is just kind enough to share it with the rest of us.

Gotcha . . . & thanks. If I could find the software/app, Do you see any reason that it wouldn`t work ? Btw . . . love the rom ! Only thing not functioning is the backup assistant & I can dam well live w/that !! Who knows - maybe I can d/l the software & get it to work. I will get back on here & update if anyone else is interested in doing so, I will let you guys know if it works.

This is how the phone should have been made. All of the cool touchwiz stuff with the rest and the Verizon removed. More stable than stock. I put NOVA and lean kernel on it and the battery goes all day. I leave Google Now on and still got over 4 hours of screen time yesterday. I love your work man.

how to flash lean kernel?

how to flash lean kernel?

Dnld it to your phone/put it on sdcard. Reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik and cache partition then flash it. Or just flash it as some say the wiping before a kernel flash makes no difference. Either way make your nandroid/backup before doing anything just in case ;)

I installed 5.5 last night. Seems slightly faster. I love it so far. After a full day at work today away from a charger . . . battery life after 10 hours is still @ 86% Wheras before on the prevoius cleanrom, would be below 80% by this time. Still trying to figure out how to get Verizon backup assistant plus installed. All the ones I found on the play store aren`t compatible with sgs3. Anyone know where to get the correct/original app ?

Can I flash 5.5 right over the previous version without wiping? I know i could with some roms on my og droid, but this is my first rom on my SG3.

Yes you can. Download & save to sd card. Just boot to recovery > install > pick the 5.5.1 zip & it install & good to go. I never wiped anything either time I changed roms & no problems. Btw . . . I gave up on Verizon backup assistant. Didnt even realize that my data, contacts, apps & all, are all sync`d up with my google account. Signed on to the Google dashboard from home & bam . . . all there. Very nice -

Got my new GS3 today. First time rooter here, but I took the plunge. Rooted, unlocked, flashed CleanROM. SUCCESS!!! Thanks Scott and others for everything. Stay tuned for reports after running this set up for a few days.

So Cleanrom is everything like stock only without the Verizon bloatware? I've been flashing Scott's stock roms which are completely stock except they are rooted and want to make sure I'm staying close to stock only without the VZW bloatware. No other alterations?

Is there really any additional gain with LeanKernel?

Is google now included on this build? If so, how do I access it?

Also, I saw some place where Jellybean 4.2 is supposedly out....or was I mistaken?

Hello all! Coming from the HTC Evo, this Samsung and and the rooting process, terms are new to me. So, with that being said, I am considering running the Clean Rom but had a question or 2.
In the op for the rom, in the 2nd post, there are 2 downloads available called, K3 Modem and K3 RPM. I think I know the modem is the equivalent to the radio. I just don't know what the K3 RPM is, or means.

Can anyone shed light on that? Thanks:)

Yes it is, just hit and hold the left hard key. And 4.2 is another thread.

The RPM is resource management I believe. All I know is that you want the RPM and Radio to be on the same version. It's not necessary, but it just helps. Flashing a ROM doesn't update this it must be installed seperately.

Has anyone had a problem with the GPS? It will work eventually but takes a long time to lock on. Ive tried clearing data in maps/google service framework, but nothing seems to help. Stock ROM was almost instant locking on. I am kind of wondering if I should just try doing a clean install to see if that helps.

Not sure, mine locks on pretty quick.
Try this, download this app and see how fast you get a gps lock;)

Edit: heh, I just flashed the rom and I am missing the VM app?!?!?
