Help Verizon Droid Probem

I had similar problems, but was able to narrow it down to one particular case and solution:

If I had my SD card mounted and allowed the lock screen to timeout, I would have to do a battery pull to get it back. So, I changed my settings to never allow a screen timeout (I only do it manually) and have not had the problem since.

I had an HTC Hero before this and it was plagued with the same issue - it must be an Android thing.

I have this exact same problem -- I'm trying to copy music from my Macbook to it (using various 3rd party syncing apps). I had to turn off the screen timeout, but also had to not do anything else on my Macbook while syncing. Otherwise, both my laptop and phone would freeze. Surely there must be a better way...

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the helpful posts about "the bad batch of installed software" on some of the droids. I'm sitting with a bad one that restarts itself several times an hour. Very annoying. Called Verizon and they're shipping me a new one immediately. I have to say that Verizon has been very helpful.

On the other hand, being a software engineer, I'm waiting to see what the actual cause of this problem is! (My guess is probably faulty firmware.) I'm hoping my next droid doesn't have the same problem, though! I'm eager to just start using a working one.

But just wanted to thank you all for the help!

I'm guessing it is a burn in issue where they put the software on fast to save time. This technique causes corruption of data and raises heck with how a device operates. Even my Sprint Hero had a similiar issue until I got the OS reinstalled.

How did you get them to take it back? I tried to take mine to a Verizon store and they pretty much blamed me for any problems. I brought it in stuck on a screen where you couldn't power it off with the power button or get anythign to respond. Then they said they couldn't replicate the problem. They said it was because one of the apps I installed was a beta but the phone has been rebooting and sticking since Friday. I think I've had to pull the battery 1-2x per day. Any advice anyone has about getting it exchanged at a Verizon store would be very very helpful. Thanks.

Make sure you go to a COMPANY store and not a retailer or licensee. BIG difference. Ask the help if it is this a Corp store, if she says no, leave.

I have the same problem with rebooting, but doesn't seem to as bad. I got my phone from Best Buy so hopefully there wont be any issues with exchanging it. Anybody had problems with exchanging theirs at Best Buy?

My new Motorola Droid has started making a strange popping sound when notifications arise, or just when I am poking around. Any thoughts? Should I take it back? Anyone else have this problem? I tried removing the battery and restarting the phone, but it didn't help.

I had the same problem with mine freezing and rebooting. i took it back to the Verizon store where I got it and got it replaced today. They didn't give me any trouble in replacing i and so far the new one hasn't rebooted yet. However, the guy at the store acted like I was crazy when I told him this was a common issue. He said there was no memo about it yet.

I had major problems with my first Dorid as well. I couldn't use it for more than a couple of minutes before it would crash and reboot. There were even a couple of times where is crashed WHILE rebooting. LOL

I exchanged it and the new one has not crashed a single time.

haha... I always wondered why there were 2 Verizon stores within half a mile on the same street. I went into one of them to try to exchange my Droid and found out that they couldn't help me because they are just a re-seller so I had to go to the other store.

Wow. I'm on a few forums and after reading this thread, figured I should mention that it seems there are a lot of lemon droids out there. My luck is usually that if there are lemons out there I'll get it, but I was lucky this time. I have yet to encounter any issues with my droid at all. I don't need to do any tricks to get it to work properly. So if you have any of the above issues, take it back. The phone is a lemonoid.

I had two problems so far. The phone reboot itself and once it was just completely off but I was able to turn them on.

So for these are the only problems with the occasional app crash since last friday. What's funny is that each time it rebooted or turned off, It was in my pocket and my friends were just saying that I'm trippin and it prolly turned off by itself. But I dont think so.

Should I just exchange it and deal with the hassle or should I exchange it anyway? M main concern is getting a phone that has even more problems.

Also, I havent been doing too much with my phone lately. What are you guys doing whenever your phones have been constantly rebooting?

hey guys so i got my phone on saturday and well they had gave me a snap on case and it had scratched the back part of the screen were it slides up.. also i had problems with my droid what should i tell them so they can exchange my phone.
