Verizon Employee just told me. . .

I got my X2 10 days ago and don't like the lag, freeze-up issues.

(I haven't had problems with random rebooting and I don't see anything wrong with the screen)

ANYWAY, I walked into Verizon about an hour ago and told him I want to return it. I had already deactivated (a factory reset after erasing storage), and had activated my old crappy Droid 1.

He told me that I should have updated the software before I deactivated, because that would have fixed the issues. I said "What update?"

He said that the X2's shipped out with 2.2.2, but that 2.2.3 was available for download, and all Android phones lag and freeze if they're behind on updates. Of course, he had no interest in activating the phone and checking for this phantom update. I told him I'd go home and try it, and if it didn't work, I'd be back tomorrow. He said no problem.

Does anyone know anything about this? Or is this lazy idiot just trying to get me to leave so he doesn't have to mess around with a return?

lazy idiot.

no updates.

Rubbish. I don't install manufacturer updates on any of my phones and they don't lag at all - and I haven't had any of them freeze in over a year. Been doing this since the release of the htc g1. I normally wait a few months and see what the developer community makes available.

Yeah I clicked check for updates about 5x and nothing. Guy seems like a typical Verizon rep... although I cannot say the same here, luckily all the Verizon tech's/reps I have dealt with at the store I go to have been honest and line up with exactly what people say on this board and go out to help me. Feeling pretty lucky lol

Wow you live in a perfect world now don't yah? lol mine are like OP.

I just had a Verizon employee yesterday tell me he thought the X2 was going to be upgradable to 4G.

*facepalm*

I doubt they will upgrade the X2 to anything other than 2.3.x at this point though. I just really hope that the update comes with the unlockable bootloader like the Atrix and I'll drop my X for one of these.

I use App Cache Cleaner on my DX2 and I have had 0 lag issues and NO reboots since I started using it. As for Verizon idiots, DONT go into the store for issue fixes UNLESS you are wanting and ready to return the phone, period. I suggest calling Verizon before talking with them in the store. I had a Fascinate that wouldnt DL updates and after I was sent 2 others from insurance I called VZW and they sent me a new DX2 no questions (other than what was happening) asked.Hope this helps a little.
