Verizon Full Price Note 2

Can you pay full retail price in a Verizon store? I know some times they'll only sell new phones with new contracts. Is online the way to go? I want to sell my Samsung S3 and pay full retail for the Note 2. This way I can still keep my unlimited data plan.

As the S3 is still very popular, I figure I can get a really good price to minimize the cost. Do you guys recommend going to a B&M Vzw store or are there better options online already?

I tried to do a quick search on Google but didn't turn up with much. They are still selling on eBay for over $700

I got mine off contract full price today at a Verizon store. Make sure it is a corporate store and you shouldn't have any issues.
If they try not to, ask for a manager. Shouldn't have any problems though.

It's up to the discretion of the stores manager. That being said, I've heard that if you call Verizon while in the store they override the manager.

Worth a shot!

I was in the same boat as you, I had the unlimited data with Verizon and was thinking of just paying full price for the Note 2. In the end I would save money over the switch to Sprint, would take me a 1.5 years to recover the difference since Sprint is 15 bucks more per month.

However my exp in Seattle with Verizon's signal in 3 and 4G was so terrible I decided to try anything but Verizon for data.

So I asked one of Sprint's non corp stores if I could just buy the phone no contract and they said no. So now I have 24 months of payments to Sprint coming.

If someone wants to pay full price for a phone why would the carrier say no?
I've done it (Sprint) plenty of times because I was always after the next greatest sensation without an upgrade available.

Because the brick and mortar store employees apparently only make commission off of the phone if it's an upgrade or new account/line. So they're hesitant to sell it to you for full price.

The carrier isn't saying no, the store manager is. It's pretty stupid. I don't ser why they wouldn't make commission of the full sale, but it's what I read.

You can buy it direct from their website for full price with no problem.

(Got this info the other day from an XDA thread. Guy was having an issue buying a VZW phone outright).

I paid full price as well. No deals on this phone unfortunately and I did not have an upgrade on my corporate plan available.

Not only do the brick and mortar stores have a commission, but they have a quota to fill. The quota isn't met by selling the equipment, but by signing new customers to contracts or extending contracts out. This isn't a bad thing, but I do know this kind of thing happens every now and again.
