Verizon Galaxy 2?

Berizon will probably have Samsung remove that feature in order to accommodate their large LTE hardware. I hope not. I really want a phone with HDMI out.

The Atrix supports HSDPA with up to 14.4 Mbit/s. That's still sort of kind of 3.5G really. But honestly, 5 megs is enough to stream high definition TV, and with a capable phone w/mirroring you could theoretically output to an HD display via HDMI. Do we really need more than that on a phone? I honestly would rather have our jump in speeds go from 3 meg speeds to like 6 meg speeds (twice as fast as what I have now), but without sacrificing battery life or making a gigantic and bulky device. I currently just am not willing to go to AT&T to get it, as they are overall horrible. Berizon is trying hard to be nearly as bad, but they still win handily in the coverage map. Sprint currently is the only one I see really striving to give customers more for their $$$ in terms of coverage, speed, data, and even customer service.

Glad to see you here. To me whether SGS2 will have LTE or not on VZW is pretty big deal though it will be very powerful multi-media device even without it. So far there is still no concrete info if CDMA version will come with LTE or not. If it turns out to be without LTE, I might just get LG Revolution (I know you wouldn't because of Bing :)) or even Charge. Also I really hope Verizon wouldn't dumb down this great phone like they did to Fascinate.

Given that Droid Charge will have 299.99 two year contract price tag initially I guess SGSII on VZW will also be 249 at least or more regardless of 4G LTE. I think 299 will be new norm for high end phones on VZW just like 199 has been.

The charger on the SGSII also plays as a HDMI port so maybe they will keep it.

Glad to see you here...

Likewise!! I really hope this phone ends up being "The One" but I fear what Berizon will do to it...

The charger has an HDMI port? So it is the MHL adaptor which we were wondering is bundled? Sweet!

I'd much rather be able to do the HDMI output with just a cable, and without the dock. The dock makes it less portable as a presentation device, and mobile gaming device.

And remember the Fascinate was also $299 at first on Berizon with your two year contract/renewal. You could send in a $100 mail in rebate. Supposedly they did away with those and just lowered the prices a bit across the board.

The Revolution is going to really have to be awesome and the SGS2 is going to have to be really really really late in order to sway me into overlooking Bing again. It just seems bass ackwards to me that a company would rather get more money from another company rather than simply please more customers and get more money that way. I suppose microsoft really wants Bing to compete, and wants it to be on more devices and in more people's minds, so I reckon they paid quite a pretty penny for the favor.

That's nothing more than speculation that anyone following IT newses can make like us unless it's coming from Samsung insider in relevant department. It still remains to be seen that Bionic is really nixed. If it's true, it would mean that marrying Tegra2 with LTE is very difficult like you said. I don't see why releasing SGS2 with Exynos/LTE would be problem for VZW if they release it in Q3. That's good 3~4 months between two.

Also given that CDMA version of Exynos SGS2 is launching together with GSM versions of Exynos SGS2 in Korea, it's not stretch to expect CDMA version of SGS2 on VZW in Q3 though LTE is still in question.

But Exynos with CDMA doesn't necessarily speak to feasibility of the same combo in N America. I read the reason for the switch to Tegra 2 was due to limited production capacity of such a new chipset -- Exynos, so Tegra will cover to meet production numbers of the handset.

But the US won't be getting it anytime soon, so production capacity probably won't influence this market. I mean, the Droid Charge is just about to launch, and now it looks like the Infuse is hitting AT&T in May. They're not stacking handset releases. IMO, the SGSII will probably launch Jun/Jul for T-Mobile and not until September again for others, a cool 12 months after the SGSI launch.

I couldnt care less about 4g lte, im happy with my 3g speeds. I just hope it comes out between june-september.

+1 glad to see you here Sir-K.

I am also hoping this device (anyG) - sans Bing - is announced by July. That is when my current upgrade expires and I am currently ready to throw my Fascinate in the trash....don't want to have to settle for less than the SG2 in my upgrade.

Most of us are expecting September at the earliest. Overseas the Galaxy SII should be available next month. It will take a bit after that for it to hit AT&T or T-Mobile here. (indications point to AT&T I believe, as the device is already approved for AT&T's primary band, however unlocked SGSII's should be able to accept T-Mobile sims when bought outright).

I'm pretty sure a CDMA version is in the works, and a reasonable source has even commented that Samsung's already accomplished the feat of fitting their good battery, LTE, AND a dual core processor in the sleek and sexy form factored SGS2. What sacrifices, if any, that Berizon had Samsung make to accomplish that feat - such as getting rid of video output capability and 14GB of internal memory as they did on the Fascinate - could still end up making it less appealing. Look at what Berizon has done so far to the Bionic, if it ends up using a similar pentile matrix to what's on the Atrix. The Bionic is slated to be several days late (rumors of additional problems/delays are surfacing) and several dollars short.

Berizon got the iPhone right, but again, it was SIX months late. And they scratched their heads as AT&T sold over 30% more iPhones than Berizon within the same time period.

Dear Berizon, Want to compete? Want to see more new customer activations? Want to see more contract renewals rather than people sitting on older tech devices? DON'T BE SO DAMNED LATE!

Sorry for getting a little upset, but this is ridiculous. I know more people with older crap phones on Berizon by far than on AT&T and T-Mobile. Sprint is a close second, and they still only have one phone that even remotely appeals to me, and that's the now elderly EVO 4G. Berizon has great coverage, and they even had good competitive device releases, but those stopped with the Droid 2. The Thunderbolt was fairly timely, but I believe AT&T still beat them by a few days with the Desire, and by a few MONTHS with the Atrix. And the Thunderbolt is still just basically an improved EVO - minus HDMI output.

Good to see some of you trusty Fascinate owners here too, by the way, birdsf. :D

100% in agreement with Sir K. No surprise!

Its like the people up top who make decisions don't get what goes on in the heads of customers. Verizon could easily pull away from other carriers with better release schedules and plan pricing. So much greed.

What's with "Berizon"? When I first saw it I assumed it was a typo of "Verizon" but you guys seem very consistent in your typo-ing!

Bing + Verizon = Berizon

They are continuing to shove Bing down our throats for some extra dinars. It's still on 2.2 for the Fascinate, and it's confirmed on the LG Revolution, which is possibly the most appealing handset they will release before September/October. And Berizon sounds similar enough that people know what you're talking about.
