Root [Verizon] Google Wallet and Root

As far as I know, Google wallet wasn't working on the S3. At least no one could find a working apk on the xda site. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So even rooted or unrooted it doesn't work on GS3?

So who can use Google Wallet? Is it just something that haven't really released yet? I guess I thought it was much further along and anyone on ICS w/NFC could use it.

I have not. I will go and try it in a bit. I need gas. My feeling is it won't work unless you leave build prop htc_jewel.

Pay pass broke at the gas station I will test thoroughly Monday morning at work. Vending machine is a paypass. If it doesn't work I will change build prop to HTC jewel and try that as well.

I contacted Verizon this is their response, I've asked them for a third party that's safe.

Currently the Google Wallet is not available to download to your device from the Play Store. However, we’ve not prevented your phone from having access to the application. You just have to download it from a third party source. We are not blocking the Google Wallet on our Galaxy Nexus phones. We actually announced this via a press release on December 6, 2011.

Statement From Verizon On Google Wallet

Verizon saying they aren't blocking it from the device is almost as bad as them blaming Samsung for locking the bootloader.

Looks like they got it working...purchases too! Verified working on Beans Rom, not sure about non deodexed roms yet.

There is a way, somewhat complicated...but possible....You will need to root your device. This is for a Galaxy S3 Verizon model. I am not responsible for you damaging your phone....so please make sure to back it up before you do anything.

These were my steps.
Root Device - How To
I used the stock rom that was provided in this tutorial.

You will need to edit the build.prop - How To
I used root explorer from the play store for 3.99 to edit the build.prop...I used the verizon zip file (wallet-sgs3-verizon_telus.zip)

I noticed when i tried to load up the Google prepaid card, It looks like it gets stuck on "verifying your account with money network", but its just takes a lot of data. On 4g it took me a little bit over 5 mins, so you might want to consider connecting to wifi before you try to load up the google prepaid card.

I am NOT an android wiz. if you have any questions you should post them up in the XDA forum in the link above. This is just what worked for me. I do hope it works for you

Enjoy your free $10

Wow. Thank you! Got it rolling. Looks good so far. Tomorrow I will get a chance to see if it will spend the funds correctly, and I will post back here if I have issues. :D
