I rooted for ad-blocking. HATE those annoying ads!
Only went custom ROM because the OTA wouldn't take. My replacement device came with 4.1.2, so I could still use the CASUAL method to unlock the bootloader, then ROM to 4.3.

I rooted my 4.1.2 with CASUAL. CASUAL doesn't work with my 4.3 update. I find the above discussion and recommendations and other posts that use jargon and technical terms that are opaque to me to be thoroughly confusing. Unless there is a one-step CASUAL approach that will work on the new update, I'm just not going to mess with it. On the other hand, I remember a sign that said, "For every complex problem there is a simple answer, and it's wrong."
