[Verizon] Help? Camera not working...

So... I unlocked and rooted this past weekend, using Wug's Toolkit, it seems everything went well. Until today when I noticed the stock camera wasn't working.

I also have the Camera ICS installed, had it before the root, both cameras worked fine.

Here's the weird part, at least to me... the cameras both go through all the motions of taking a pic, camera app opens up, focus works, flash works, seems to be taking a pic, but I can find no picture anywhere... not in gallery, not anywhere in /mnt/sdcard (using Astro), any ideas?

Where is my camera putting my photos?

Also just noticed that neither the stock camera nor Camera ICS will record video, both 'force close' as soon as I press the record button.

I also noticed that Google Earth force closes itself as it's trying to open. I uninstalled all the updates and it works ok. Reinstall the updates... force close again.

Edit... Ugh, forgot to say I am stock after root, ICS 4.0.4, build IMM76K.

Most of the developers and folks around here are focusing on Jelly Bean. I see you are on ICS. My suggestion would be to pick a stable Jelly Bean ROM do a full wipe and install. Jelly Belly 3.1 seems to still have some issues. 2.6v is stable, just make sure you flash 7/4 "propper" GAAPS if you choose that one. You will find more support if you update to JB now that you are rooted.

Thanks. I have no time to play with it during the week, but wanted to go through the process of unroot/relock > then unlock/root again, just to make sure I didn't hose the process the first time.

I've been reading a lot of buzz about JB and may as well try that too. I guess it can't be any worse, eh?

Thanks for the reply, it kinda bolsters what I was thinking. ;)

Start simple. Clear cache on Camera ICS, then uninstall and check stock camera.

Yeah, tried that, no difference. I'd like to uninstall/reinstall the stock camera. If it's possible I don't know how. I can't help but wonder if this is a driver issue. I got a little hung up on that phase of Wug's kit.

I also tried to uninstall/reinstall the Cam ICS, still NFG. It goes through all the motions, just doesn't save the image anywhere. Both apps act/fail exactly the same way.

ok. First of all i wouldn't recommend jumping to a JB rom yet, not for this issue.

Your're saying you're still stock ? So all you have done is used Wugs to root and that's it. Did it ever work after you rooted? If So did you make a nandroid as soon as you rooted? If not you may just want to reflash to stock using ADB and then re root and see what happens.

Exactly. Cam worked Friday and Saturday, rooted Sunday, noticed cam wasn't working on Monday.

I figured I would just do as you suggest, go back to unrooted and redo it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a shortcut on a known problem.

Thanks for the advice! ;)

Try not to use a toolkit to root your device, root it the proper way that is outlined in the all things root sticky at the top of the page :-)
That is the safest root method hands down.

Wat?

I used Wigs Toolkit, I thought that was the "proper" way. Are you referring to a different method?
