[Verizon] Kang

I am by no means a newb. I'm on my second Android phone, 21 months into rooting and ROMing but I have NO IDEA what KANG is. Can someone open my eyes?

I remember asking a similar question not long after I rooted my Dinc but it was about what ASOP is.

Any takers?

I always used to think it was stealing someones code(or taking it without crediting)...its kind of used now as just a way to say borrowed code...like Android Open Kang Project is kind of a mash up of the best tweaks from other people.
This definition isn't completely accurate but I can't seem to put into words what I'm trying to say...hope it (sort of) made sense

Would like to clarify that the AOKangP ROM is not a Kang of others code but a Kang of Google AOSP. ROMAN took the latest AOSP available...4.0.3 and made his own tweaks to it. He has listed in his change logs that he has gotten some stuff from other devs, but this is not the same as the type of Kang you referenced. Code Name Android ROM is a Kang of most of the ROMs out right now and as such more clearly fits your description of Kang.

Hope this makes sense and that you are not offended by my tone. I do mean well.

To steal or a stolen code when referring to programming. Also can refer to leaked coding.

I found this kang and here's a working distro for ya

Both of these seem to make kanging seem to be bad. I personally don't think kanging is always bad. With projects like AOKP credit is given where it is due which I think is important. There are other roms that to not provide that credit and some could argue that those roms are the ones that are truly kanging from others.
