Verizon Lollipop is here!

You have to use the Verizon software upgrade assistant on your desktop. Lg G3 Verizon VS985 update from 12B to 23C. 5.0.1

My vzw gpad got the same update yesterday ota. However it was just an update for lte. It was a large update so I assumed lollipop. But it is still 4.4.2

Don't upgrade if you use Hangouts for sms, and phone calls. Or if you use GMail. Nothing incoming will notify your phone if you are connected to WiFi. They seem to work if you have WiFi turned off.

This is a known issue with lollipop for g3. According to XDA, Verizon has notified LG about it. They are supposedly working on an update to fix it. There are workarounds if I root the phone. But, they don't sound too appetizing.

I guess this is as good a reason as any to not update. I do most of my work on wifi and hangouts and gmail are my two biggest areas of focus.

I just checked my System Updates and it's there! Downloading now...

It's recommended to do a Factory Reset after the update, right?

Wish I had a) checked here first and b) believed the warning about "No Gmail notifications while wifi is turned on".

I've got a lot of things set to alert me through my gmail account, and I depend on the notifications.

Well, let's see how the VPN works. Phone@work w/ no wifi will be sport.

C'mon 5.0.2! Oh heck, let's be greedy. C'mon 5.1!!!!

May have to fire up and re-sim the G2 if this doesn't get fixed fast.

Prior to hard reset, which I didn't want to do unless I had to, decided to look around for info.

Googling around a bit brought up a thread at reddit that had what appears to be the fix.

Go into the applications manager. All tab. Google Play Services. Clear the cache.

Brought back gmail notifications while wifi is active. Rah.

Not sure what it would do for Hangouts since I don't use that, but since it seems to be tied into the whole google play services subsystem thingee, it might be worth a try.

Interesting, tried this^ and it didn't work for me.

This phone has gone Notifications crazy since this update. Some of it is resetting apps to "not Notify", but I'm getting too many system notifications about stuff I don't want to see.

Yup. Glad I waited. Sorry, and so sad, to see so many people disappointed and having a buggy OS. I say shame on Android/Google.

If LG made the Lollipop onscreen menu buttons normal size, than more people would upgrade. I think the menu buttons are way to big.

Very strange I was angry for upgrading, nothing worked well (mail and gmail not at all on my wifi) just like everyone else. Suddenly tonight I'm getting notifications as usual and apps quickly connect to wifi as they always did. Everything seems fine after 2 days of shit. No reset, no wifi change. Just started working normally again. I hope it lasts.

Mine seems to have smoothed out as well. I think the wifi email issue may be an insecure connection.
My work wifi is labeled as not secure, and the wifi symbol on the pull down has an exclamation point on it...think that's why some emails don't come through.

My home wifi is secure, and emails come through as normal, and no exclamation point on the wifi symbol either.

I know that my Yahoo! mail has NEVER come through when I'm on work wifi, even before lollipop.

My biggest problems are 1. the battery running out to quick now and 2. when on my wireless charger it is not charging quickly. I used to be fully charged in a few hours, now I have to plug in or I am only at about 75% after charging all night. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
