Root [Verizon] Looking for stable rom.

I'm running Cyanogenmod 11 snapshot M3 and it's really stable. The only issue with the snapshots is that the code is a little behind the nightlies since they're built to be more stable. I would recommend at least trying it. Just make sure you have the most up to date recovery since it's 4.4.2, and if you don't have the newest recovery, it could error out during the flash.

I'm not sure what the newest version of twrp is. You may want to go check if you're on the latest version, and if not, update to the latest version of twrp (you should be able to find it on their website).

The last TWRP is 2.7.0.0. I`m running it now.

As far as a stable rom . . . CleanRom 8.1 ce Has been perfect for me for 4 days now.

I`ve been on CleanRom 6r2 for almost a year when I was on 4.1.2. Now that I`m running 4.3, I`ll stick with 8.1. I just hope that Scott will add upgrades/features to it like he has done in the past on his previous roms, Although I fear that the S3 will be losing alot of support in the wake of the popular S4 & soon to come S5 . . .

CleanRom 8.1???????? When did this happen? I thought he left it at version 7-something??
Nice!! I may have to check that out!!

Well as usual I definately recommend any version of CleanRom. I've been running v.6r2 for like forever & it's been nothing short of perfect. That version is only 4.1.2. Figured it was about time to go to a newer version. Love it so far . . . ! I hope Scott does some upgrades for it before his S3 efforts fade to favor the S4 & S5. I'm so used to some of the 6r2 features like long press menu to kill apps, & secret/service menu defaulted on without having to enter digits to enable it. I liked the message/call block feature also in 6r2. Anyway . . . Try it !! You won't be disappointed I promise !

I've had my phone for a year with the stock ROM but it was rooted. The phone was getting really laggy lately. I tried "freezing" apps to debloat but that didn't seem to fix it.
And another annoying thing, a couple months ago something popped up on my phone asking me to enter a PIN, so I did. Since then my phone has been making me enter my PIN like 50 times a day, it was incredibly annoying and I had enough of it, so I said screw you Verizon I'm going with a custom ROM.

I would love exactly what you have Mikey. Can u post all links. If you have time?

Well, Talon linked the rom thread here:

The kernel I'm using is version 4.0 here:

that link will eventually lead here:

but read thru the op's

Somehow my TB for my apps got boogered and I couldn't restore my apps with data. No big deal for me, but if you have TB and are backing up your apps with data, you may want to look into successfully restoring them after your flash to CleanRom.

I did a "dirty" flash of CleanRom 8.1 (no wipe of system/data) over my existing system . . . which was CleanRom 6r2 (android version 4.1.2). All my apps, data, browser bookmarks, even full list of sms messages were all intact after the flash. Don`t know how or why, but it was all still there.

Can someone let me know what I need for new version.

What do you mean . . . ? All you "need" is a Samsung galaxy s3 (I535) & a custom recovery such as the above mentioned TWRP or CWM loaded on it to flash the rom from & the rom zip file available through the links provided . . .

Just want to male sure I do it 100% the right way. I have messed up my phone before. Lol been awhile but still like to make sure. Such as dirty vs not dirty. Its new to Me. I'm going to download the links listed to my computer. Then back up my phone. Twrp. Then boot into recovery and flash new one. After I clean cache etc. Am I correct?

That's exactly the process that I use . . . Backup . Boot to recovery . Flash the rom zip. Done. That simple. The option to wipe your system or data before flasing the rom zip while still in recovery . . . Doing so is what they call a "clean" install. I did not do that, & not only did it work fine , but all my apps, app data, sms messages,& browser bookmarks were still there (dirty install). That simple. Don't overthink it . . . It's a straightforward process . . .

Go for it . . . ! Plenty of knowledgeable help on here if you get stuck - you should have no problem. Let us know how you make out ;)
