[Verizon] Loss of reception in multiple ROMs

Hey guys. Got a quick question that hopefully someone can help me out with. I have been using AOKP M6 and have been having some issues with losing my 3g/4g connection when I power my phone screen back on from idle. Doesn't happen every time but it happens enough to be annoying. Then I switched to Jelly Belly to try out a JB ROM and get the exact same issue. Now every time I do a flash it's a clean flash with nandroids done before. My question is does this sound like a radio issue? I have the latest radios installed but they came on the phone when I got it. So I was wondering if I should maybe flash the 4.0.2 then flash the 4.0.4 and see if that makes a difference. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Generally ROMS do not touch the radios, so this issue shouldn't be ROM specific.

Right I didn't mean to make it sound like I was blaming the ROMs. I was just trying to give a complete rundown on what I was using when I was having the issues. Sorry for any confusion.

No problem. I don't have your device so I can't provide anything more concrete, just trying to help where I could

That's what I was afraid of... I re-flashed radios and it seems to have helped so far, but that doesn't mean it will last. Now, will Verizon or Samsung work with me even though I'm not the original owner of the phone? I bought it off a buddy of mine.

Update: I called Samsung and they said it is a known issue with the radio software and that they are working on a patch that is expected to be out in late August. Apparently their script is messing with LTE and causing the whole thing to crash. So if anyone else is having this issue there's a heads up.

yeah this has been a very known issue since day one. It sucks and everyone's mileage varies. For some the update has made it better for some it got worse and for some there was no change. Hopefully the next update will be better.

Yeah as of right now 90% of the time when I take my phone out of idle I will lose all service. It is very VERY frustrating but there's nothing I can do until that patch comes out :/

I have suffered with this exact issue since day one. Got mine on release day. It has varied, but did improve with JB.

Same issue here. I got my initial phone on release day and it had this issue. Sometimes I would get the dreaded grey bars (says 3g or 4g and has bars but its all grey - not blue). Other times I wouldn't get any 3g or 4g notification. That was on a stock phone with no apps (fresh reset).

Just last week, I called Verizon and they sent me a new phone. On this one I immediately rooted and flashed AOKP M6. Unfortunately, I have the same issues. Airplane mode and toggling the data does not help - only a full reboot. On this one, I have not gotten the grey 3g yet...just no signal at all. And it's not all the time.

Frustrating.

I'm surprised they said a patch is coming. I think they just wanted to satisfy you and buy some more time for their new phones to come out. Maybe they hope you just decide to get a different phone :-/
