So I'm on MK2 and I'm finally getting around to wanting to try Lollipop. Before I go any farther, I want to be able to do a Nandroid backup. I also want to be able to flash custom ROMs down the road. I'm rooted but somehow I managed to never install a custom recovery. When I go looking at CWM and TWRP there's all these warnings about not being able to use Loki if you have TouchWiz and so on. I'm honestly a little confused at that level.
Also, just to make things more interesting, sometime ago I managed to disable the auto-OTA stuff. (It was so annoying!) The notes I have are:
Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on how to get to a rooted stock Lollipop with custom recovery. I'd LIKE to not lose any bootloader advantages I have now. (said as if I understand this stuff... which I don't)
Really, I'm a lightweight MODder at best. Gimme root, let me tweak a few things and run Titanium and so on... and I'm good.
Thanks in advance

How to prevent System Update Notification
Frozen via Titanium Backup: FWUpgrade.apk and SDM.apk and SDM10.apk
Renamed file: /etc/security/otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak
Renamed file: /system/app/ wssyncmlnps.apk to wssyncmlnps.apk.bak
I unfroze SDM but I don't even see the others APKs. And those two files aren't where it says they should be. I did a factory reset at some point so...? Frozen via Titanium Backup: FWUpgrade.apk and SDM.apk and SDM10.apk
