[Verizon] Need some Guidance on Backup & Root?

I no longer root, or modify anything deep like roms. I'm all default right now. However, I really am disipointed with Androids ablitiy to back up. I recently did a hard reset and can not believe how many customization's I did unit I had to recreate everthing.

My question.
Is there still no real solution to make a backup of your Android Devcie that includes system settings and App data without rooting?
If a root is required, Is there a simple minimal root procedure that would give me the ablitly to make full backups using something like Titanium Backup?

Just posted on XDA for you but I'll copy+paste here too...

If you want to ROOT then there's a lot of one-click root options out there. You just have to search. Its quite easy.

I would recommend rooting if you're trying to do a full system backup. Titanium backup will backup all the programs+data but it won't backup your home screens and all that stuff. Nandroid backup will, however. For that you will need a custom recovery. Either CWM (through ROM manager, it's the easiest way, or TWRP).
